About
Zoe Brooks is a Russian-American mezzo soprano and native New Yorker. Having just completed her undergraduate studies at SUNY Purchase, Zoe made her professional operatic debut as Moth in Tim Albery’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis as the youngest member of their 2025 Gerdine Young Artist Program.
While at Purchase, Zoe performed numerous lead roles. At only 18 years old, she appeared as Cherubino in the conservatory’s mainstage production of Le Nozze di Figaro. Her performance as the title character of Ambroise Thomas’ Hamlet awarded Purchase the National Opera Association award for best production, in which her vocal command was praised. Her other credits include the titular roles of Hänsel and Poppea.
Zoe was a member of the 2023 Chautauqua Opera Conservatory, where she performed the role of La Libellule in Marcus Shield’s production of L’enfant et les sortilèges. She has also received awards from numerous competitions—most recently winning the Encouragement Award from the 2025 Opera Index competition.
In fall of 2025, Zoe begins her studies with Amy Burton as a candidate for the Professional Studies Diploma at the Mannes School of Music in New York City.
